It is also possible to take a river cruise through the city which provides a much more relaxed way to see the sights. Or for those a little braver, you could hire a punt and make your way up the River Cam under your own steam!
The wealth of talent at the University can also be admired in the Fitzwilliam Museum which houses the art of students plus a private collection which has been highly acclaimed as "one of the greatest art collections of the nation". Also held within this impressive neoclassical building are fine examples of Egyptian, Roman and Greek art. A perfect place to spend time on your city break.
If you would like to stray slightly further afield on your weekend break to Cambridge, it is worth a trip to the Fens to see Ely Cathedral. Much of the original Norman structure remains with updated sections to the fashions and tastes for later generations. Or something more modern, the Imperial War Museum at Duxford is perfect for all the family and houses Europe's premier aviation and military vehicle collection.
