The Royal Cambridge Hotel has partnered up with local waste management company, Ellgia, to improve its recycling efficiency and be more ‘green’.
Formed in 2011 and based in Ely in Cambridgeshire, Ellgia deliver efficient, measurable, cost effective and environmentally-friendly solutions to businesses across the east of England. Along with their range of waste management services, they are also committed to educating companies on improving the way they work and ultimately reducing the amount of non-recyclable waste they produce.
Hotels are guilty of producing an enormous amount of waste and by teaming up with Ellgia, The Royal Cambridge Hotel is aiming to reduce that waste and increase its recycling percentage. A variety of recycling and food waste bins have already been installed at the hotel with development plans on-going, so the company can further reduce its impact on the environment.
General Manager at The Royal Cambridge Hotel said: “It’s hugely important that as a business we’re doing what we can to help the environment. Cambridge is a very green city and we want to be a part of that by being as green as we possibly can.
“The fact that Ellgia will help us with this was a big reason we wanted to work with them. Educating the business on how to work more efficiently from a waste management point-of-view is something us, and most companies, are in desperate need of.
“It’s also great to be working with a local company who’ve seen great traction in the industry since forming just over seven years ago.”
As a company, Ellgia are proud of their work locally and within the local community. Not only do they sponsor a number of sports team, they’re doing their bit for charity in the coming weeks with several members of their team taking part in the Berlin Marathon, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
