The Royal Cambridge Hotel were joined by Micky Steele-Bodger CBE and his wife as the annual Steele-Bodger XV vs Cambridge University Rugby match took place in Cambridge.

Since 1948, the game has acted as a warm-up to The Varsity Match and we were once again delighted to be able to welcome the former England Rugby player to the hotel.

Stewart Rushton, General Manager of the Royal Cambridge Hotel was pleased to see Micky return to the hotel. He said: “We welcome all guests, but it’s always fantastic to have someone of Micky’s calibre joining us each year.

“Earning nine caps for England and receiving a CBE for services to Rugby Union proves what an influential person he is. Myself and the team at the hotel love hearing his stories and look forward to welcoming him again soon.”

The game itself was close, but a late try, five minutes from time saw Cambridge University beat Micky’s Steele-Bodger XV 38-31.
