A winning donation of more than £600 saw the Bird family win the ‘At Home with The Royal Cambridge Hotel’ prize at the recent Kick Cancer Charity Ball.
Hosted at The Royal Cambridge Hotel, the event raised money for Addenbrooke’s Oncology Day Unit and the Arthur Rank Hospice. To help with their fundraising efforts, the hotel donated a unique prize that will see staff from the hotel visit the winner’s house and give them a full hospitality experience.
General Manager at The Royal Cambridge Hotel said: “We always try and contribute to local charities and it was a pleasure to offer this unique prize. We were discussing internally what we could offer and rather than the usual accommodation or dining packages, we thought we’d donate a truly money can’t buy prize.
“Staff at the hotel will visit the Bird’s family house and do the cleaning, the cooking, serve them and general wait on them, just as if they were in the hotel.
“It was great to see the prize auctioned off for a good amount of money and we’re looking forward to offering them this hospitality experience to them.”
The Kick Cancer Charity Ball followed the annual #KickCancerCup which is now in its fourth year. It was set up by Samantha Isaacson who was diagnosed with cancel aged just 25. This year, the charity has raised more than £10000 which is donated to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust and Arthur Rank Hospice.
